Although Satomi has been working on her vanity over the centuries, it still bristles when she hears anyone declare themselves or someone else more beautiful than her. Unlike past times, she would just ensure there was something that would be less than perfect—lopsided boobs, facial acne, an extra nipple. So really, it's been a vast improvement from turning people into spiders.

That said, Satomi still feels that hit of betrayal anytime she sees Shihori by Nari's side.

She can concede to the fact that they love each other—the emotions overflow any time she's around them to the point of overwhelming sometimes—but Nari was supposed to be on her side. They're siblings and up until Shihori's arrival, Nari had always listened to her, had deferred decisions to her. Not to say that he had no opinion, just that he hadn't cared too much about it all. He had one role and that was to ensure that the couples that were meant to be together were.

So the idea that he had pricked himself on an arrow accidentally upon seeing her was unfathomable. Nari was perfect at his job, and still is.

Shihori is just a weak spot.

"I'd rather you stop glaring at her," Nari whispers to Satomi behind a goblet of wine. Satomi blinks, realizing suddenly that she's not standing in her own home, thinking. No, they're all gathered at the main hall of Olympusyama for one reason or another—not that it matters to her, there are get-togethers way too frequently here that they've all started to blend, really. (Unless it's an Aiba party, in which case, those are interesting for rather predictable reasons.)

Satomi eats a piece of fruit from his plate and smiles up at him as pleasantly as she can manage. "I would never glare at your dear wife, Hiro."

"You're completely believable," he deadpans, snatching his plate away before she can take another piece of fruit.

Satomi pouts, and he grudgingly sighs and passes it to her. She smiles, plopping another grape into her mouth. "Let's be fair," Satomi says. "I've gotten better."

"Yes, well, I'm sure she appreciates that you haven't threatened to turn her into an animal in the past century."

"Oh, has it been a century already? I may have to remedy that."

Nari looks over at her dryly. "Getting meaner in your old age, huh?"

"Hey!" Satomi frowns, hitting her hip against his. "No references to age! You know the rules!"

"As though the Goddess of Love has anything to worry about in that front. Unless..." He turns over to her, leaning in so close that Satomi instantly flushes, but he flicks her on the forehead. "Ah, I do see a wrinkle or two forming. Keep that up and you may not keep your string of lovers."

Satomi glares. "I'll have you know—"

"I know, I know. It's only been the talk of the mountain," Nari says with a grin. "And what a shock that Satomi-megami has decided to narrowed her picks to only two. You have grown."

"As have you," Satomi says after a pause. "You've been with her for a long while." Her eyes flicker back to Shihori who is talking happily with Maki.

Nari laughs. "I've only been with her, Satomi."

"And you call yourself the God of Love," Satomi says teasingly. Nari pulls her into a hug, lightly brushing his lips against her forehead.

"Well, there are different types of love. Like a steadily love that will last through the ages?"

Satomi looks up at him. "I know, I know," she sighs. "Don't need to patronize me, Hiro. Do remember that I have long since accepted her."

"Oh, you might want to tell your face that."

"My face is perfect, don't start that again." Nari laughs and kisses her forehead again, hugging her tighter.

"Except for a wrinkle or two." Satomi angles her nose up at him, pushing him away.

"Go back to your wife, damn you." He smiles, pulling away.

"I still love you most of all, you know?"

"You're disgusting," Satomi calls out to him as he's walking away. "So mushy in your old age!" Nari winks at her over his shoulder before moving to his wife's side. The smile Shihori gives him almost brings a snarl back onto Satomi's face, because it radiates, and really, there's nothing that brings beauty more to a person's face than the sight of pure love. Satomi knows that better than anyone.

The smile that Nari gives Shihori gives is equality as radiant.

They really are disgusting, Satomi thinks with a sigh. But, she thinks as she finds Ohno in the crowd of Gods, maybe she's starting to understand them a bit better now.

(And maybe that's really what she's most angry about. It's tough being taught a lesson centuries in the making.)
