How Harvest Can Be Great
Aiba Masaki/Becky, hints of Matsuda Shota/Yoshita Yuriko
[livejournal.com profile] tinyangl, 555 words
Prompt: aiba/becky, wine and chocolate from [livejournal.com profile] sinonymity. Written here originally.

Aiba is Becky's first visit always. She doesn't know when that started or exactly how, but she knows that when she's upset, Aiba always has a glass of wine and chocolates set aside for her. Granted, Aiba always has a glass of wine set aside for whenever or whomever.

And Aiba, for his part, knows that if he ever has any problems or concerns, he can talk to Becky at any point. He doesn't take advantage of that, like ever, but Becky makes sure to always tell him this. "Becky," he laughs, pouring the rest of their third bottle of wine (of only three glasses were hers) into their glasses. "If I ever had any problems that couldn't be solved with wine, it's a problem that isn't important."

Becky rolls her eyes before finishing her glass. "Another bottle?" she asks.

"Not even a question."

This isn't to say their relationship is always amiable. Because of Becky's control over the earth and her attached feelings whenever Yuriko comes back from the Underworld, his grape harvest fluctuates in degree. "You need to get over this."

Becky glares at him, refilling her sixth glass of wine. "For someone without any sense of personal relationships, you sure are an expert in the matter."

"Hey now," Aiba protests, taking the bottle from her hands. "I have very personal relationships with my grapes. You have to grow them at the right temperature and with the right soil and care for them like you would people. You'd never realize how persnickety grapes can be."

"Masaki. Grapes are not humans, and more importantly, they are not your sister or brother. So until that happens." She gives up on pouring into her glass and starts drinking straight from the bottle. When she finally stops, she places the empty battle next to the other two. Aiba puts down his glass, eyes surprisingly serious.

"Yuriko loves him." Becky stares at him and reaches to grab another bottle of wine, but Aiba stops her, hands over hers. "You're not me, Becky. You don't drown your sorrows in wine."

"Stop it, Aiba. This isn't—"

"She loves him and I know you feel betrayed because he technically abducted her—"

"And tricked her!"

"But she loves him, and you can't change that or smother it out of her."

"I know that," Becky argues. "But that won't make me any happier when she has to leave every year to go back to him. I'll always just remember how that relationship started and it makes me mad and sad all over again."

"But she loves him and he loves her."

Becky glares. "I'm not Satomi, this doesn't matter to me."

"You're her sister, of course it does." He pauses before he hands her the bottle of wine, but Becky shakes her head. Aiba smiles as he watches Becky stand up.

"I guess I should stop sulking and go talk with Yuriko."

Aiba shrugs. "If you feel like that's a good choice."

Becky laughs, leaning down to drop a kiss on his cheek. "Now I remember why you're usually my first stop."

"I thought it was because I'm so fun!"

"That's true too." Aiba smiles and reaches over to take her hand, lightly kissing the back of it. "Now make sure harvest is good next season and all is forgiven."

"No promises," Becky sing-songs before disappearing out the door.

The next season is one of the best in a long while.
